Yellow Jackets, Paper Wasps, Bald-Faced Hornets & Mud-Dauber Wasps are all part of the “wasp” family. Many people are allergic to bee/wasp stings & they should not attempt to treat any nests on their own. DSPM, bee exterminator & wasp exterminator, can perform extermination service for all of them.

Symptom: If you notice a steady stream of (what look like) bees constantly going in & out of a hole(s) on the outside of your home; they are probably Yellow Jackets. This is obvious evidence that you have a nest within the structure of your home. DO NOT attempt to spray into the hole with any store bought aerosol insecticides. And DO NOT plug up the hole that they are using. CALL A PROFESSIONAL! You are risking the possibility of forcing the yellow jackets inside your home if you try any of these ill-advised “do-it-yourself” techniques.

What we do: DSPM, bee exterminator & wasp exterminator, uses a special type of “non-repellant” material that is injected into these entry/exit holes that the bees/wasps are using. Because of it's non-repellant nature, the intruders will continue their normal activity after the treatment. Because the material also works relatively slowly, the insects will have plenty of opportunity to travel through the insecticide & take it into the nest, transferring it to the other workers & eventually to the queen. This process will only take a day or so & will wipe out the entire colony. As part of the service, DSPM, bee exterminator & wasp exterminator, will also inspect around the perimeter of the home for any other potential bee nests that the homeowner may not be aware of. If a ladder is required, the homeowner must provide one. The sprayer can reach up to 15 ft. high depending on the wind speed & conditions. Often times the nest can be accessed from a window or from a roof that is accessed through a window. So a ladder is not needed as often as you may think.

Primarily, there are 3 species of cockroaches that are found in homes in this area: German Cockroaches, Oriental Cockroaches (aka “Water Bugs”) & American Cockroaches (sometimes called “Palmetto Bugs”). DSPM, cockroach exterminator, primarily uses high quality, industry proven bait gels to control these various species of cockroaches. For the customer this means NO ODOR, NO VACANCY REQUIREMENT, LOW TOXICITY & LITTLE or NO PREPARATION REQUIRED to perform this service.

The average “clean-out” service for a single family dwelling takes approximately one hour to complete. Larger homes & multiple unit apartment buildings will take longer, accordingly.

If you opt for a maintenance service, we want to emphasize that this is NOT a “contract” service. You have the opportunity to cancel the maintenance plan at any time. Many residential customers will keep an “every-other-month” regular service cycle due to the cost effectiveness & peace of mind that it provides. Although this is not a contract, it is necessary to keep up regular services (at least every-other-month frequency) in order to sustain maintenance rate pricing. We do enforce a “90 day” threshold of automatic cancelation. After 90 days of no service performed, the maintenance service is voided & it would be necessary to pay the “clean-out” rate again in order to resume with the maintenance plan. If you do opt for monthly maintenance service, a “free service” warranty is included. Also, mouse baiting (if necessary) is included with monthly maintenance service by DSPM, cockroach exterminator.

It is important to note that in homes that are connected (“row homes” or “semi-detached”), there is no assurance that the customer will not continue to see cockroach activity. The service provided will address the roaches that are infesting the building we treat. And it will also help prevent future infestations, especially with regular maintenance service. However, it WILL NOT PREVENT stray roaches from coming through wall voids from a connected building. And since we have no knowledge or control over the adjoining building's possible roach infestations; anything that the building owner does to instigate roach activity (setting off foggers, spraying aerosol insecticides, remodeling, etc.) will directly affect the amount of activity that our customer sees at any given time.

There are hundreds of species of spiders that inhabit our area. Too many to mention. But the most important one is the BLACK WIDOW. Yes, we do have black widow spiders in our area; especially in heavily wooded areas.

Spider services are all performed using the same basic methods, regardless of the species being treated. It is an interior crack & crevice and exterior perimeter “detailing” service, primarily utilizing liquid sprays. However, if the interior infestation is heavy, a fogging may be required to achieve optimum control. If a fogging is deemed appropriate, residents will need to vacate the home for at least 4 hours from application time. It is only in rare situations that fogging is necessary.

If a ladder is required, the homeowner must provide one. Our sprayers can generally reach the eves of a 2nd floor (up to 20 ft. from ground level). Excessive ladder work, homes w/large decks, crawl spaces, etc. are some factors that can affect the pricing.

There are numerous species of ants that are common in our area. DSPM, ant exterminator, can perform extermination service for all of them. Some of the more common species include: pavement ants, odorous house ants, argentine ants, acrobat ants, thief ants, pharoah ants & carpenter ants.

Most of the listed ant species are treated, using the same methods & materials. Liquid & dust insecticides are the most effective & therefore, most commonly used by DSPM, ant exterminator. All of these materials are odorless & none of them emit any toxic fumes. All materials that DSPM uses are EPA approved & are applied in a safe manner, with children & pets given priority consideration.

Prior to the service, the areas where ant trails are being seen should be cleared of any clutter & the surfaces cleaned. The residual material that DSPM, ant exterminator, uses will last for up to 2 months on the inside if applied to clean surfaces. Avoid wet wiping or mopping these areas in the days following the treatment as to avoid washing up the residual. When treating for all species except carpenter ants; most situations do not require the bedrooms on a 2nd floor to be treated. Usually only the bathroom(s) on upper floors will be treated.

What makes the liquid material that we use so effective is its' “non-repellant” quality. Most retail bought liquid sprays are pyrethroid based, which gives them a “repelling” effect. This will often times give temporary results, but it rarely eliminates the source (the colony). Our material gets picked up in microscopic amounts by the worker ants as they readily crawl through it, carry it back to the colony & transfer it to the other workers, infecting the entire colony, including the queen(s), which ultimately eliminates the source of the infestation.

The common house mouse is what most people experience in the Fall when conditions outside cause the mice to move indoors in search of food.

We use 2 different types of paraffin wax bait blocks for all clean-out services. In extremely heavy infestations, we may need to use tracking powder. Mice will enter buildings through cracks or holes as small as a dime. Exclusion is often helpful to prevent future infestations. DSPM does not provide this “exclusion” work. But we will make recommendations on any potential rodent entry points that we observe during our service. It is best if a general contractor or handyman does this type of work.

Safety is Top Priority: Many people have pets & are concerned about the possible effects that our material will have on them. Safety is always a top priority when placing bait, especially when pets or small children are ever present. We will never put bait in areas that are readily accessible to small children or pets. Adult cats are not a big concern. The bait simply does not tempt them. It is generally not palatable to them & they will leave it be. Kittens need to be monitored the first couple days, to make sure they are not trying to extract some hidden bait. Dogs do need to be monitored also to make sure they do not try to find the hidden bait. Puppies are the most vulnerable, due to their smaller size & the fact that they will readily eat anything & everything they can find. DSPM will always inform the homeowner of all the areas where bait was placed at the conclusion of the service. We will not be held responsible for pets that get into bait that could potentially become exposed when furniture & appliances are moved or remodeling occurs.

The homeowner may need to provide a stepladder if it is necessary to get into crawl spaces or attics without pull-down stairs.
